By now you should be familiar with the cult of beauty advent calendars. Almost every company in the beauty space, from blockbuster retailers to new, niche independents, is participating in the annual competition to deliver a calendar that breaks through the clutter.
So how do you drown out competition in such a crowded category? According to Harvey Nichols, the answer is simply to get big, really big. This year, the retailer has gone to great lengths to offer calendars that combine quality and quantity to offer an unparalleled experience and great value for money.
On sale now, Harvey Nichols Beauty Advent Calendar 2024 offers a journey through the brand’s vast beauty halls, taking you through the famous aisles of makeup, skincare through haircare, and of course, niche luxury perfumers.
This year’s calendar costs £250 but contains over £1,000 worth of merchandise. Of the 42 products inside, 18 are full-sized (and all were chosen by the retailer’s buying team for their sheer awesomeness). Okay, the quantity box is ticked, but what about quality? Well, La Prairie, Sisley, Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Le Labo and others are also participating, so how convincing is that in that area? You probably don’t need that much.

Bazaar Beauty team highlights are extensive. Eve Lom’s iconic cleanser is a botanical balm that dissolves makeup like no other. That’s why it’s been a classic for over 30 years. The 50ml pot, which comes with the prerequisite cleansing cloth, is the perfect size for a long weekend getaway (usually costing £48 on its own). A lesser-known hero, Davines’ OI shampoo and conditioner has been a staple in many beauty editors’ bathrooms for years. Not only for its heady white floral scent, but also for the luxurious lather and intense hydration of its sustainably made formula. In the perfume realm, Le Labo’s incomparable Santal 33 is a cashmere sweater with an autumn scent that’s a crowd-pleaser and keeps you cozy. And of course, Augustine Bader’s The Rich Cream needs little introduction. Use this 15ml bottle during a busy week in December and you’ll look brighter and more well-rested than before the party started.
So far it’s been very generous, but there’s more to come. To make some celebrations extra special, one in every 100 calendars includes a £250 Harvey Nichols gift card to splurge on your New Year’s Eve outfit.
The Harvey Nichols Beauty Advent Calendar is now available in-store and online, priced at £250.
