PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A Guadalupe family lost everything, including five pets, in a house fire last weekend.
It happened Sunday night not far from Interstate 10 and Guadalupe Road. Only the rubble remains of the memories of generations.
“That house is no longer there. It’s gone. Everything in the house is gone. There’s nothing there that my father built, so that’s difficult,” Esmeralda Morales said. spoke.
Esmeralda has called this place home for most of her life. The blaze broke out around 9 p.m. Sunday. At this time, firefighters do not know the reason.
“This was just a nightmare for me. It doesn’t seem real,” she said.
Her son Joe also lives there with his wife. Joe was there that night and still struggles to find the words to describe the pain.
“It’s overwhelming,” Joe said, fighting back tears.
Five of the seven dogs she owned died in the fire. Esmeralda describes her pets as her pride and joy.
“It’s very nostalgic,” she said.
The plan is to pick up the pieces and repair the damage. Esmeralda wants to return to the house her father built for her family many years ago and start a new chapter.
“I want to live somewhere before I die. I don’t want to live in an empty house. I want something of my own. I want my own home,” she said.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help them rebuild their lives.
