2 days of lectures ending with a lecture on ‘Yoga Shastra’ at BVB, Mysuru Kendra today
Mysuru: Sri Eswaran, Acharya, founder of the Vedanta Institute in Bengaluru, said, “Bhagavad Gita teaches us about a better lifestyle and the meaning of family.”
Yesterday, Acharya Shri Eswaran delivered a lecture on ‘Bhagavad Gita’ at the YT Tatachari Auditorium of Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan (BVB), Mysuru Kendra, Stage 1, Vijayanagar in the city.
“Vedanta is a subject and Gita has one chapter. Vedanta is a Shastra that includes three important chapters: Upanishads, Brahma Sutras and Bhagavad Gita. We all know how integral the Gita was to the Mahabharata. In fact, Lord Krishna in the Gita conveys a message about religion from chapter 2, verse 11. There is no mention of Krishna throughout the first chapter, which really surprises us. .Gita first teaches us about our better condition and the lifestyle associated with it,” explained Acharya Shri Eswaran.
In modern times, people tend to behave in such a way that they do not have time for interpersonal communication. Surprisingly, divorce cases are also increasing, and at least in our country, such a situation should not have arisen. It is a tragedy that educated, intelligent people created such an alarming situation. Acharya Eswaran regretted that interpersonal conflicts have caused rifts in relationships.
Most of us are aware of bonding, sadness, melancholy, ragas (relationships), longing, and desire. Raga brings suffering and longing ends in desire and fantasy. A person caught in an illusion can lose complete ability to think, and many people are currently experiencing this situation. Acharya Eswaran said that the situation of Arjuna (Mahabharata) was similar.
The Gita teaches us about a religion that is essential to us, and that particular knowledge is called Brahma Vidya. We need to understand the role of karma, bhakti and jnana properly and the answer lies in the Gita, said Acharya Eswaran. He will be speaking on Yoga Shastras at 6:45 this evening at the same venue.
BVB Mysuru Kendra Vice Chairman C. Naganna Prof. Secretary PS Ganapathy, Treasurer Dr. AT Basham and Management Committee Member Dr. TS Gangadhar were present.
