Gigabyte, one of the top motherboard manufacturers, announced its X870/X870E motherboard lineup a few weeks ago, revealing new features added to the chipset. Gigabyte X870E/X870 motherboards for AMD Ryzen 9000 CPUs offer the latest connectivity and features to build powerful computers for high performance computing. This motherboard not only supports the latest Zen 5-based Ryzen 9000 and older Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000/8000 CPUs, but also offers improved aesthetics, improved connectivity, and convenient features.
AORUS X870 series offers upgraded features such as EZ-DIY design and high-speed connectivity for enthusiasts.
EZ DIY friendly design
Gigabyte X870/X870E motherboards are made to be EZ DIY friendly and offer multiple EZ features for your convenience, including:
M.2 EZ Match WiFi EZ Plug EZ Debug Zone
M.2 EZ-Match allows you to easily install M.2 NVMe SSD into the connector and provides a larger heatsink for faster heat dissipation. This improves overall efficiency and the magnetic mounting design allows for easy installation and removal of solid state drives. Currently, M.2 EZ-Match is only available on high-end X870E AORUS Master motherboards, but the remaining EZ features are available on various models.
WiFi EZ-Plug is another exciting new feature supported on all X870E/X870 AORUS(ICE) series motherboards. This feature allows you to attach a WiFi antenna plug to the adapter in 1 second. This is typically much more time consuming for regular designs that require the user to tighten the screws.
Additionally, Gigabyte has added features to its AORUS X870E/X870E (ICE) series models, including PCI-E EZ-Latch Plus, which facilitates graphics card removal, which is cumbersome with normal designs and requires manual pushing of the graphics card. It comes with a variety of DIY-friendly features. Press the lever to unlock the PCI-E x16 slot. Next up is the M.2 EZ-Latch Plus, which allows you to install an M.2 SSD without screws, and the M.2 EZ-Latch Click, which allows you to easily install an M.2 heatsink without screws.
The third EZ feature is the EZ Debug Zone. It provides the motherboard with several useful onboard features, including a power button, multi-key, debug LED, and 80 ports for advanced troubleshooting. This allows enthusiasts and overclockers to tweak various parameters within the BIOS to get even more performance out of their Ryzen 9000 processors.
The power button lets you instantly turn your system off and on without using the case’s front panel buttons, and the multi-key lets you instantly reset your PC. However, this feature can be reconfigured to perform different functions based on individual needs.
Debug LEDs help troubleshoot system boot-related issues and indicate faulty components by lighting the LED next to the faulty component. These are the CPU, DRAM, VGA, and BOOT LEDs and will help you recognize any faults that may occur on your system.
For advanced users, the 80 port is at the top and displays various codes at startup to help resolve various startup issues. All these EZ functions are placed in the same zone, allowing users to understand faults more accurately.
Latest connectivity: USB4 and WiFi 7
Gigabyte X870E/X870 motherboards feature the latest USB4 ports for I/O for faster data transfer. These USB4 ports offer a DP Alt mode that enables display through the port, skipping the use of the actual display output while also serving multiple purposes such as data transfer, peripheral connectivity, and efficient charging. I will fulfill it.
Each motherboard has at least two USB4 ports, offering speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, transferring large amounts of data at lightning speeds. The USB4 interface provides transfer speeds several times higher than USB 3.1, which has transfer speeds of only 10Gbps. For comparison, USB 3.1 can transfer a 25 GB HD movie in 35 seconds, while the USB4 port can transfer it in just 10 seconds. The number of USB ports is huge, 19 in total.
The next big upgrade that Gigabyte X870 series motherboards bring to the X670 board is WiFi 7, which dramatically increases wireless internet speeds. Gigabyte offers the WiFi 7 Directional Ultra High Gain Antenna with Delay Reduction Board to provide high bandwidth and minimize loss and delay. So whether you’re playing games or downloading large files, Gigabyte WiFi 7 will give you an advantage over your opponents.
With speeds up to 5.8 Gb/s and 320MHz channels, WiFi 7 delivers twice the bandwidth compared to WiFi 6. Apart from WiFi 7 and USB4, the Gigabyte X870/X870E lineup brings native PCI-E 5.0 support for GPU and M. .2 Equipped with SSD to improve performance.
AORUS AI SNATCH and performance enhancements
To maximize performance, Gigabyte also introduced AORUS AI Snatch. It boosts AI performance and compute in just seconds while ensuring component safety during overclocking. With AORUS AI Snatch, you can easily increase memory speed up to 400 MHz with EXPO AI Boost via BIOS.
Through various optimizations, Gigabyte was able to enhance AI decision-making, natural language processing, and text analysis in AI workloads. The new X870 lineup also has improved performance per watt, making it more efficient at helping Ryzen 9000 CPUs achieve better scores while consuming a fraction of the power. Gigabyte claims the AORUS X870E/X870 motherboards have up to 9% more performance per watt when tested in intensive applications such as AIDA64 Extreme 7.
