Goodwill for spooky inspiration on D-IY D?COR. I’m at the Pooler Friendship facility today with JJ and Ashlyn. Or should I say Wednesday Addams? And today we will talk about Halloween decorations. We have an exciting table in front of us. Ashlyn, please explain what you’re getting here. Yes, of course. So here at GOODWILL, we’re all about creating DIY Halloween adventures. Really, anything you want to create, from costumes like the one I’m wearing to home decor, we’ve got your back this season. Here in front of me are some Halloween home decoration DIY ideas. You may have seen this ghost candle before. They are actually trending now. It’s a fun activity that can be easily done at home, so it’s likely to become very popular. Take a simple taper candle, place it in hot water that just warms it (not boiling it), and let it sit for about 10 minutes. This gives the candle some flexibility, allowing you to bend it into any shape you like. It’s very cool. I’ve found that the most effective are these types of chalkboard type markers. You can draw small faces. It could be a great way to get the kids outside. And there we go. You now have a little Halloween decoration in your house. Okay. And please tell me what this is. Yeah. This is our cemetery area. That’s why I love that word. you love plants And maybe you like little, little, maybe even more delicate decorations. This is a great option. You can pick up recycled jars like I did here and maybe actually find something like a small collectible. GOODWILL has many of these options. You can paint it to give it a more ghostly feel. Or maybe some of you are already in Halloween shape. So mix them with all kinds of artificial plants you know. And there we go. Create a little Halloween atmosphere on your table. It’s very cool. Everything is reusable and affordable. That’s correct. Okay. And JJ is here for the pumpkin carving people. What did we get? Now, this is a pumpkin carving kit. Here we have a large spoon and a small knife. This is a book filled with everything about you. I don’t know if you can open this, but there’s a pattern here. Nice. This will show you different types of pumpkins and jack o’lanterns that you can carve. I love it. What is here? This is a little garden gnome, you know, put it on your coffee table. A little Halloween decoration. Yeah. And talk about the importance of reusing items like this and keeping these items out of landfills, especially during a fun time like Halloween. Yeah. That’s correct. Again, we really love seeing the kinds of creations people come up with. 83% of pre-packaged costumes end up in landfills, so being able to use something again for Halloween is really great. So if you’re looking to take a simple piece of clothing that someone else has seen, or maybe a donated costume, and give it a second life, you’re really contributing to the creation of a circular economy. And you’re helping make sure things are right. ” T goes into a landfill. Okay. And shop with Goodwill and not only buy our donated items and new products, but also help further our mission of helping people find jobs in their communities. It will be. I think we served this year. In 2020, we have already served over 3,000 people, 350 of whom have sustainable jobs. That’s great. wonderful. Now, JJ Wednesday Addams.
