Travel app Skyscanner surveyed thousands of users in the UK to predict the top travel trends for the year ahead and found botanical tourism is on the rise. You heard it here first. 2025 is officially set as the year of “horticultural culture.”
What is horticultural culture?
A horticultural culture means putting gardening and a return to nature at the forefront of your travel plans, and you’ve probably been practicing it for years already.
Have you ever focused your entire vacation on visiting famous gardens? Are you planning a trip to see the blooming flowers in spring? To feel true oneness with nature, you can choose a fully electric Are you looking to stay somewhere that doesn’t? If you answered yes to any of the above, you can officially call yourself a gardener.

And you are not alone. It’s no secret that nature provides the perfect respite from the ever-evolving world of technology, given its calming, grounding influence and immense beauty. Skyscanner reports that 62% of UK travelers enjoy visiting a garden while on holiday, with 46% saying gardening tops their list of leisure activities. Also, cherry blossom season, autumn leaves, and fields of sunflowers in full bloom top the list of floral phenomena. So it’s no wonder this travel trend is quite literally blooming right now.
