Y2K happened only 25 years ago, but by today’s standards it’s old enough to evoke nostalgia. A fashion trend that was all the rage in the early 2000s is making a comeback.
Here are five of them that the internet is desperately trying to bring back.
low rise jeans

Every time a celebrity like Bella Hadid or Kendall Jenner is spotted wearing low-rise jeans, people on the internet comment on how they don’t want this trend to come back. Not to add to their fears, the fashion style has already made a comeback in recent months. Every time you scroll through Instagram, you can see hundreds of women wearing low-waisted sports pants. Brands like ZARA, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Gap have come up with new lines of low-rise jeans in all styles, including baggy jeans, slim fit, bootcuts, flares, and cargo pants. Typically styled with crop tops, accessories, and a nicely exposed belly button, this trend seems to be here to stay.
micro bag
In 2019, Jacquemus launched the Mini Le Chiquito bag. Since then, no one has looked back. Over the past few years, brands like Hermès, Celine, Bottega, and Prada have introduced bags so small that they won’t even fit your essentials on the go. These are fashion products that prioritize aesthetics and style before considering functionality for the consumer. But everyone from Hollywood celebrities to Bollywood actors to influencers has jumped on board the mini and micro bags boat.
In fact, what’s both remarkable and ironic is that big bags are causing just as big storms.
Caprice
Capris are also making a comeback thanks to influencers and Hollywood celebrities. What’s interesting is that unlike in the 2000s, when capris were so bad that only Adam Sandler could pull them off, these days they’re styled very elegantly. Brands like ZARA, ASOS, Dion, and Mago are introducing new Capri collections, perfect for work, casual gatherings, and even classy and festive looks. In fact, 2024 will see a makeover of Capri leggings, with activewear brands leading the charge with new styles.
Baby T-shirts and crop tops
When it comes to crop tops styled with low-waisted pants, the former is also a fashion trend that was all the rage in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Now baby t-shirts, cropped tops, cropped hoodies, and even cropped shirts are back. If you need pop culture context, think of movies like “Clueless” (1995) and “Mean Girls” (2004). And recently, TV shows like Euphoria have featured crop tops, baby T-shirts, and graphic shirts.
girly accessories
2024 was the year that slicked back buns took the internet by storm as the “Clean Girl” trend raged on, but it’s also the year that big girly hair accessories made their way back to our phones and markets. There is also. Ribbons, ribbon scrunchies, organza scrunchies, clips, beads, scarves, headbands, large floral embellishments and more are all back.
