LOS ANGELES, USA — In the makeup and cosmetics brand’s first global brand campaign, Rare Beauty partners with creative agency Fred & Farid Los Angeles to create the “Every Side of You” under the new creative message “Love Your Rare.” has been launched.
This campaign celebrates all the aspects that make us unique and is a brand call to action as Rare Beauty encourages its community to embrace everything that makes them who they are. Inspired by founder Selena Gomez’s raw authenticity and unwavering self-confidence as a multifaceted singer, actress, philanthropist, and friend, this campaign celebrates the many facets of our identities as unique. Each of them is worth loving and celebrating.
“Whether at home, on the red carpet or sharing candid shots of her life, Selena is an inspirational icon who unapologetically loves herself, with or without makeup. Rare At Beauty, we want people to feel good with or without our products. We want them to be able to celebrate and love every part of themselves. Because all of those parts are what make each of us special and rare,” said Katie Welch, CMO of Rare Beauty.
“Being rare means being happy with yourself. I stopped trying to be perfect. I just want to be me.” – Selena Gomez
The centerpiece of the campaign is a powerful film produced by Fred & Farid Los Angeles and Rare Beauty’s in-house creative team, narrated by Selena. With a central theme of finding beauty in our imperfections, the film aims to evoke the joy, security, comfort, and empathy of owning our individuality.
“We wanted a campaign that felt as honest as the brand itself. Rare Beauty meant breaking some rules in the beauty industry, such as showing someone crying alone in favor of an optimistic background. This unique combination is what we tried to capture in both the film and the photo, with Sheila Johansson in the film and Olivia in the photo. “That’s why we chose to team up with Malone and Emma Trim,” said Fred & Farid Ross CEO Frederic Lillard. Angeles, and Chelsea Steiger, creative director of Fred & Farid Los Angeles.
Directed by Sheila Johansson, the campaign features moments of confidence and vulnerability from a young and diverse cast using rare beauty products. Ambient camera lighting and thoughtful, slow-paced movements captured each of the talents’ emotions, resulting in a beautifully authentic, positive and inclusive portrayal of self-love.
Alongside the film, the campaign will be rolled out globally across social, OOH, CTV, influencer marketing, paid digital and Sephora locations. Fans will also be able to participate in exclusive content before and after launch.
“It was exciting to see the campaign come to life with such synergy. Each step of the process felt like creative coordination was facilitated. In addition to our incredible cast, talent, and hard work, it’s a sure sign that everyone deeply understands and recognizes what’s true about our brand, and the room is always filled with love. , that love resonates as the campaign goes out into the world. We’ve put more than four years of brand building, discourse, and love into community that will surely inspire how the brand moves forward. “I was able to capture it in an instant with a new visual tone.”
