Eva Mendes talked a little about her parenting style.
The Hitch star, who has daughters Esmeralda, 10, and Amada, eight, with partner Ryan Gosling, spoke about her family rules in an interview with The Sunday Times.
Mendez said she does not allow her home-schooled children to use smartphones or social media.
“Putting your child on the Internet and saying, “Oh, search for something,” to me is the same as saying, “Oh, just walk down the street in the middle of the night. You’ll be fine.” she said.
“It may sound extreme, but that’s how I feel,” she added.
The actor and author also talked about how she tries to give her children a perspective on their privileged upbringing.
“I explain to them what I didn’t have, what I didn’t have when Ryan was little, and how hard we had to go through it, but unless they go through it, We’ll never really know,” she said.
Mendes met Gosling in 2011 while working on The Place Beyond the Pines, where they played a married couple with a young son.
The mother-of-two took a step back from acting to focus on raising her children, which she previously described as the “easiest decision” she had ever made.
