Erin Foster, creator of Netflix’s “Nobody Wants This,” admitted she was initially hesitant about hiring an infant nurse. Foster, who gave birth to her first daughter with husband Simon Tichman in May, spoke about her “overwhelming” experience as a new mom on an episode of the LadyGang podcast. Later, she said of hiring a baby nurse for the first few months, “It felt like a godsend to have someone there who made me feel like my baby wasn’t going to die.”
Among other topics, Erin Foster discussed raising her daughter while juggling life as a writer and podcaster.
Erin Foster reveals she learned a lot from her baby’s nurse
Erin Foster detailed her struggles raising her newborn daughter. She also detailed what she learned from Joy, the infant nurse. Eight years later, the writer and creator returned to the “LadyGang” podcast to discuss her new Netflix series, “Nobody Wants This.” Given that it was loosely based on her experiences, the conversation occasionally turned to her personal life.
In an episode of the podcast, Erin Foster told the host that at first, “I thought maybe we didn’t have to hire an infant nurse.” She claimed her plan was to keep it “all natural,” especially since she had a “home birth” and “wanted to pursue things in a different way.” Foster claimed that she learned a lot with the help of the infant nurse. This includes getting answers to questions and receiving support in “overwhelming” moments.
For Erin Foster, raising her young daughter with a nanny was a big help. At first, she guessed: “It may be different for everyone, but for me, what happens when I get help is that I learn a lot from this person.” She claimed her “maternal instincts don’t kick in” when she has to, when she “should wake up,” or when her baby farts. The mother-of-one stressed that she felt the nurses were “not doing a terrible job”.
Erin Foster called the baby nurse who helped her as a new mom “phenomenal” and described it as “the work of 10 people”. The podcaster said Joy seemed to “have all the answers and brought it all home.” Baby Nurse kept all her tricks a secret from Foster, but Foster revealed that she and her husband hired a nanny for their baby girl.
