Arsenal have undergone a fitness boost and England manager Lee Carsley suggested Bukayo Saka could have been available for the match against Finland.
England yesterday decided to exclude Saka from the squad after suffering an injury in the match against Greece. The Three Lions have a wealth of attacking talent and have chosen not to take any further risks.
Arsenal have yet to provide an update on the severity of Saka’s injury. However, ahead of England’s game against Finland, Carsley suggested the winger should be fine and said he was close to being considered for selection.
As quoted by Express Sport, he said:
“Bukayo would have been nearby, but it would have been unfair to take the risk with him.”
Just Arsenal’s opinion
Carsley and his coaches have shown that they care about the welfare of their players, which will make it easier for us to continue releasing our star players on international assignments.
Saka is a strong boy who rarely gets injured and leaving the England camp early will give him more days to recover and be ready to help us in the next match.
We are now hoping that our key player does not return from his country’s national team due to a serious injury.
