As Dolly Parton says, rhinestones are essential to the latest Dolly Beauty makeup collection. Her lipstick is now bejeweled with three new lip glosses and black mascara. Gayle King, who recently interviewed Parton, said she loves it because it’s sparkly and cute, just like Dolly.
There are also new eyeliners in black, blue and brown, as well as lipliners that can be worn alone or layered with lipstick. The bestseller, unsurprisingly, is Heavenly Kiss Lipstick in Jolene Red, Parton’s signature deep red shade. However, as Parton shares in an exclusive video with Oprah Daily, she prefers to wear birthday suits in shades that are pale, warm nudes with a satin finish. “I’m fair-skinned, so I don’t really wear red lipstick. My mouth is so big that that’s all you can see. With this, I look like a big rosebud,” she says.
Parton’s glamorous look is as much a part of her fame as her music, and her cosmetics feel like an extension of the real thing. She said, “I’ve been wearing makeup for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a little girl walking around Locust Ridge in the Smoky Mountains, I would pick colored pokeberries to make lipstick.”
For Dolly, makeup is a reflection of who she really is, and to this day, she is never less than full-faced. “I overdo everything. I wear too much makeup, but (it) makes me feel good,” she shared, adding that she puts makeup on when she goes to bed when she’s in California. Then in the morning, Parton plans to stick to a routine of wiping everything down and reapplying. I think it will be the same even when I am 100 years old. ”
