Research has found the most popular homemade Halloween costumes in Massachusetts.
Hobby website Creative Fabrica conducted a study using surveys and Google search data to measure Americans’ creativity in making their own Halloween costumes.
We also discovered popular do-it-yourself Halloween costumes in each state, measured each state’s creativity score, and looked at the percentage of people in a given state who make their own costumes.
Massachusetts ranked only 23rd out of 50 states in terms of creativity, but the survey found that 61% of people in the Commonwealth would rather make their own Halloween costumes than buy them at a store.
Popular DIY Halloween Costumes in Massachusetts
According to the study, people in Massachusetts’ favorite costume to make at home was Barbie doll.
“Summer 2023 movies inspired many costumes last year, but many Americans are still obsessed with trends and likely to make their own costumes at home,” the study states. .
Connecticut is also one of the states that has used Barbie dolls as a favorite homemade costume for Halloween.

However, this is not the case in all New England states, with Rhode Island and Vermont choosing the nurse as their favorite homemade Halloween costume.
New Hampshire was a wild card in this equation because its popular Halloween costume was a pirate.
