On the October 18 episode of WWE SmackDown LowDown, Johnny Gargano spoke of his affinity for the Motor City Machine Guns, praising their innovative wrestling style while promoting their upcoming match.
“Everyone in WWE is new to the Motor City Machine Guns. We’re not. This is a match we’ve wanted for a very long time. We’ve known the Motor City Machine Guns for a long time. Alex Shelley, they’ve been like big brothers to me throughout my career, revolutionizing tag team wrestling.
Tommaso Ciampa, I spoke with equal respect for the accomplishments of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, but made it clear that #DIY will reclaim the WWE Tag Team Championships.
“They started a revolution, but here’s the thing: Right place, wrong time. Ten years ago it would have been the Motor City Machine Guns. They were the uncrowned kings of the division. But today, you’re listening. Then Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley, we are the uncrowned kings of the tag team division, #DIY whatever it takes, see you soon.”
