As Hurricane Milton neared landfall, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis took aim at vicious dog owners.
A Floridian who left his dog tied up as a storm approaches the coastline is vowed to be punished.
DeSantis was responding to a video posted Wednesday by the Florida State Patrol that shows an officer rescuing a dog tethered to the side of a highway.
Please take a look.

It’s okay, buddy. Are you okay. Are you okay. Are you okay. Are you okay. Are you okay. Are you okay. (dog growls) I don’t blame you.

The governor thanked the Tampa-based patrol, writing:
“Leaving a dog tied to a pole while a storm approaches is cruel to anyone. The state of Florida holds anyone who abuses pets accountable.”
In Florida, pet abandonment is a misdemeanor, but repeat animal abuse offenders can face prison time.
Nearly 6 million people in Florida are under evacuation orders.
President Biden urged residents to heed warnings from local officials and said this could be the worst storm to hit the Sunshine State.
