RALEIGH, N.C. – Dense fog is expected to blanket parts of central North Carolina early Sunday morning, reducing visibility and impacting travel near major routes such as Interstate 40 and NC-147. may give. The fog is expected to clear by 10 a.m., with a mostly sunny day with highs expected to reach 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
Dense fog will make driving dangerous, especially near Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) and other low-lying areas, the National Weather Service said. Motorists are being asked to use caution, reduce speed and allow extra time until the fog clears in the morning.
Once the fog clears, Sunday will be pleasant with light winds and clear skies. By night, skies will remain mostly clear and temperatures will drop to around 61°F. Monday’s forecast calls for more sunshine, highs near 84 degrees Fahrenheit and variable winds.
Looking ahead, the first half of the week is expected to remain sunny and mild, making it ideal for outdoor activities. Tuesday and Wednesday will be sunny with highs in the low 70s, with overnight temperatures dropping into the 50s.
