CNN —
Delta Air Lines will debut a new look on its narrow-body Boeing 757s this fall with sleek new cabin interiors that will eventually be rolled out across the airline’s fleet.
The new navy and dark gray color palette is a departure from Delta’s bright blue hues and is in line with interior design trends. Subtle red accents and “relaxation-promoting” lighting are part of a design overhaul ahead of Delta’s 100th anniversary.
“As we embark on the next century of flight, this all-new cabin interior combines practicality and beauty to create a fresh, lofty and timeless atmosphere,” said Mauricio Parisse, vice president of customer relations. At the same time, it reflects our customers’ evolving preferences and expectations.” Experience design, news release.
The new cabin will debut on domestic and short-haul international flights on Boeing 757 aircraft later this fall, before being introduced on wide-body Airbus A350 aircraft in early 2025.
Although the interior will be completely redesigned, “seating configuration, size, and spacing between seats will remain unchanged,” a Delta spokesperson said in response to questions about aspects of the cabin design.
Premium Delta One seats feature a breathable wool and nylon blend fabric cover designed to better regulate temperature, and a synthetic leather headrest.
Memory foam cushioning is available in Delta Premium Select and First Class, as well as economy seats on widebody aircraft. The main cabin seats feature engineered leather with red accents.
The new lighting is designed to create a “calming onboard environment” that helps guests become accustomed to the time zone.
“For boarding, we focused on the ‘moment of deceleration’ – warm, inviting lighting that makes the cabin feel wide and open. When we dine, we have a menu with colors that make it feel like you’re at a candlelight dinner, making the meal more natural and inviting,” Paris says.
“As the lights dim for sleep, we borrow the light of the setting sun and slowly remove the blue light, bringing in a warm amber color reminiscent of a sunset. When it’s time to wake up, the cabin It slowly brightens towards the sunlight.
Delta Air Lines says the new cabin design will eventually be available on all of its aircraft.
“Our goal is to create unique experiences across our diverse fleet, not just a few unique aircraft,” the airline said.
Some travelers immediately asked for more comfort-oriented features.
“No one is interested in stylish seats. We want plenty of leg room,” one CNN commenter wrote on Tuesday. Others also requested more legroom and armrests with plenty of padding.
