LONDON — Montez Sweat’s body didn’t feel normal at any point this week, due to a combination of jet lag, sleeping in a new bed and a disrupted routine.
“Even towards the end, I was feeling a little bad,” he said.
It didn’t matter Sunday, as he was one of five Bears with at least a partial sack in a 35-16 win over the Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Sweat shared sacks with defensive tackle Byron Cowart, while defensive end DeMarcus Walker, defensive tackle Chris Williams and linebacker Armen Ogbongbemiga each had one sack.
“I’ve never been part of a D-line with sacks all over the room,” Swift said.
The Bears dominated against a clumsy Jaguars offense, holding them to 3.4 yards per carry. They forced two turnovers — linebacker TJ Edwards punched an Evan Engram fumble on the first play of the second half, and cornerback Josh Blackwell punched an Evan Engram fumble early in the fourth quarter. He intercepted a Trevor Lawrence pass aimed at Christian Kirk — and could have committed another turnover if replays hadn’t turned it over. Fumbling.
“It just makes us hungrier, dude,” Sweat said. “At one point, we almost got tired of converting offensively. We just wanted to get back out there and make more plays.”
Sweat was the last person to leave the Bears’ locker room, but was happy to go home.
“Coming here is definitely a break from our usual routine, but it’s another challenge we have to take on,” he said. “It’s more fun when you beat other teams.”
