C-SNIP (Community Spay/Neuter Initiative Partnership) is a West Michigan nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing pet overpopulation, improving pet health, and increasing access to veterinary care. .
During Pet Wellness Month, C-SNIP’s Sharon Caldwell Newton appears on Fox 17 Morning Mix to discuss best practices for caring for your pets.
Balanced nutrition and dietary control
Feed your pet a high-quality food tailored to their age, breed, and health needs, and avoid overfeeding to prevent obesity-related health problems.
Daily exercise and mental stimulation
Regular physical activity and enrichment (such as toys and training) will keep your pet healthy, prevent boredom, and reduce behavioral problems.
Regular veterinary checkups
Schedule annual or biannual veterinary visits to catch potential health problems early, update vaccinations, and maintain parasite prevention.
C-SNIP is also building a new affordable veterinary hospital at 1300 Walker Village Dr. NW. The facility will consolidate three existing smaller C-SNIP clinics in Grand Rapids and Fruitport to provide a broader, high-volume, lower-cost service to economically challenged pet owners throughout 10 West Michigan counties. We plan to provide veterinary medical services.
C-SNIP will also host the 7th Annual Wags & Whiskers Fundraiser on Oct. 23 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Proceeds will be used to support C-SNIP’s services and raise awareness of the Community Pet Project.
