APL’s focus is not just on adopting animals, but on giving pets a new chance at happiness.
CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Humane League is making midweek memorable by reducing adoption fees to just $10 every Wednesday in October for adult dogs and cats up to the 30th. During the same period, the kitten fee will be reduced to $50. Dog license fees still apply.
This event has been in the works for some time to free up space and help more animals in need. However, in the wake of Hurricanes Helen and Milton, the demand was even greater.
Cleveland APL hopes to adopt adoptable animals from North Carolina and Florida. Shelters there are assisting pets separated from their families during the storm.
We hope Wags and Whisker Wednesdays will make a difference.
“It’s really about motivating people to come here and see all the amazing animals that are available for adoption and consider adopting,” said Sharon Harvey, president and CEO of Cleveland APL. “Because we know there are more animals we need to adopt.”
APL held another recruitment event over the weekend of October 11th to begin freeing up more space. Mr Harvey said although the event was a success, there were still many wonderful dogs and cats available for adoption.
APL is working with animal adoption partners to determine how many animals from the Southeast can be adopted. These cats and dogs could arrive later this week.
Wags and Whiskers Wednesday will also be held on October 16th, 23rd and 30th. APL is open Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
