WWE headlined this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown with a triple threat ladder match for the WWE Tag Team Championship. A great chance for Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa of The Bloodline to lose the titles without a pinfall or submission loss, and either DIY or The Street Profits to become champions again It seemed like a great opportunity.
Unsurprisingly, this match was full of the usual spots you’d expect in a ladder match, although not as much as PLE. DIY met in the middle, but could not win. Profits finished second, but couldn’t win that either.
DIY and Profits joined in, placing Roar on a table outside, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa holding him down, and Montez Ford coming off the top rope with a big splash. Next, they turned their attention to Tonga, this time helping Angelo Dawkins DIY a triple powerbomb into the announcer’s table.
Moments later, DIY superkicked Dawkins — after all, every team is for themselves — and went for the title. The Profits returned and everyone fought on the ladder, with Ciampa and Dawkins coming down through the ladder in one corner and Gargano and Ford doing the same in the other corner.
This left a clear path for The Bloodline to climb the ladder and drop the title.
And yet.
