Tim Waite/For the Express Bellefonte closes out the regular season tonight in Week 10 against Richland.
Bellefonte enters its final regular season game in Week 10 at 6-3 and heads to Richland, a 7-2 team tonight.
Bellefonte has been playing great the last few weeks. The Raiders are 4-1 in their last five games, but their only loss in that stretch was to Bishop McCourt, who won 28-0. Last week, Bellefonte defeated Huntingdon 49-26.
Liam Halterman went just 6-for-8 last week, but threw for 172 yards and found the end zone. However, Bellefonte did a lot of damage on the ground. Senior Aiden Howell ran for 115 yards on just four carries, averaging an impressive 28.8 yards per carry, and also scored a touchdown. Isaac Gall ran for a touchdown and Halterman carried four times for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Halterman also averaged 19.5 on the ground per rush.
Halterman did a good job of spreading the ball around last Friday. Halterman hit four receivers that night. Jaden Gavrovsek had three receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown, followed by Gall (1 of 40), Aden Howell (1 of 8) and Ashten Howell (1 of 51). Successfully caught a pass.
Halterman routinely demonstrates that he can move chains using his arms and legs. This year he has thrown for nearly 1,000 yards (914), eight touchdowns, and only two interceptions, and leads the team with 400 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.
Richland lost 41-21 to Clearfield two weeks ago, but bounced back with a 23-10 win over Chestnut Ridge last week. Freshman Jacob Regan went 18-of-27 for 166 yards and a touchdown against Richland, helping his team win the championship. win.
Richland’s offense performed well, but the team’s defense left an impression.
Richland’s defense held Chestnut Ridge freshman quarterback Landin Princin to a 3-of-7 passing performance for 12 yards. And when it came to rushing, Chestnut Ridge had just 66 yards left as Haydan Webb went 16-for-98.
Chestnut Ridge’s defense was a difference-maker last week and could cause problems for Bellefonte’s rushing and passing attack this week.
