Hello Vogue Club — I’m Arden, Vogue’s beauty editor. When she’s not working on trending stories for print issues or testing new products, she can often be found backstage at Fashion Monthly reporting good news to Vogue HQ.
In the club’s first ever Backstage Beauty Diary, I’m taking you through some of my favorite shows from Paris Fashion Week this season. Together we examine some of the greatest beauty moments, from backstage to the front of the hall. This is expressed in the industry as “I have a seat at the show!” (There will be lots of baggy denim, windswept hair, and Dior lip glow.) Here we go!
Day 1:
I just arrived in Paris! On the flight and in the car to my hotel, I wore an acupressure wristband that my friend Sarah Clausing gave me during NYFW. If you don’t like looking at your phone in a moving car, these are designed to reduce motion sickness and can definitely help.
My first stop was the Red Light Room treatment at the Dior Spa at Hotel Plaza Athénée. It starts with a rose-scented glow shot, moves into a light-based deep tissue massage (it’s hard to tell with your eyes closed, but it makes the whole room glow!), and ends with a sweet little tray and tea. Enjoy yourself next to a soothing fountain.
With visibly brisk steps, she unpacks her travel beauty bag and prepares for dinner with Dior before the show.
Day 2:
Backstage interviews with Dior Beauty often involve lots of delicious snacks early in the morning (one of the perks of BTS’s life!)

For the show, makeup artist Peter Phillips created a “workout blush” and used smudged eyeliner to capture the post-sport moment. You can easily recreate this by applying 099 black Diorshow on Stage crayon on the water’s edge and closing your eyes tightly (his signature trick)! ). Hairstylist Guido Palau’s headband ponytail, which is both athletic and fashionable, was a big hit.
It’s always exciting to see everything come together when you move from backstage to the actual show. Beyond fashion and beauty, what was the most exciting part of this runway? Artist SAGG Napoli opened the show by shooting a bow and arrow!
Day 3:
Vogue’s breakfast at the Ritz (hello, Chris Appleton!) turns into a fire-and-ice facial by celebrity facialist Cynthia Rivas, courtesy of iS Clinical and Manolo Blahnik. What a dream!
Cynthia gave us the glowing skin seen at Coperni’s big moment at Disneyland (not to mention working with clients like Paris Hilton, Eiza Gonzalez, and Demi Moore) ).
