Cruise travel is on the rise, with 33% of travelers planning a cruise next year. Europe is the top destination and boomers are the main cruiser generation.
PETERSBURG, Fla. – Travel continues to increase, and cruises remain popular in 2025. A recent SquareMass survey of over 4,000 travel insurance customers revealed that 33% of travelers plan to purchase travel insurance in the next calendar year (compared to 26% the previous year). By early 2023, it will be only 20%.

Top Cruiser Fears: Illness and Injury
27% of travelers say their biggest fear during a cruise is getting sick or injured while on a cruise, followed by 15% who fear getting sick or injured before their trip.
To ease those fears, more travelers than ever are using Squaremouth’s “Cruise” filter to search for cruise insurance, with filter usage up 67% compared to this year and compared to 2023. Increased by 91%.
Popular Cruise Ship Destinations: Europe: 30% of travelers will choose a cruise to Europe in the coming year, followed by the Caribbean, Mexico and Alaska.
