Artyom Chigvintsev and Nikki Bella have been embroiled in divorce proceedings in recent weeks following allegations of domestic violence. These accusations were made against Nikki Bella after her ex-husband’s arrest.
As part of the lawsuit, Nikki Bella asked for full custody of her son Matteo, with Chigvintsev having limited visitation rights. However, as a result of court proceedings, this decision has not been ruled in Nikki’s favor.
Artem and Nikki to share custody of Matteo after divorce
Despite the court granting the divorce, it appears Artem has won his lawsuit against Nikki Bella, according to reports. According to the court, Nikki and Artem will have joint custody of their son Matteo. Not only that, but the judge ordered them to take co-parenting classes.
At the time of their divorce, Nikki Bella also claimed that Artyom Chigvintsev had anger issues and wanted him to take anger management classes. However, the judge ruled against this as well, suggesting that he did not need to take anger management classes at this time.
Since this divorce case has already been resolved, it will be worth seeing how the two handle their co-parenting roles going forward.
The incident began on August 29, when Artem was arrested by police following complaints of domestic violence. Nikki Bella was then released on $25,000 bail, but she wanted to separate from her partner for good and immediately filed for divorce.
However, towards the end of September all domestic violence charges against him were dropped, but divorce proceedings continued. The charges were dropped because there wasn’t enough evidence to convict him, the DA’s office said. The prosecutor also argued that although the case was dropped, if further evidence against him is later found, the court will likely reopen the case and reexamine it.
It is also noteworthy that neither of them has spoken publicly about the incident. Now that the case is finally closed, it will be interesting to see how the former couple speaks to the media about the incident, if they choose to do so.
