MILAN — Italian design platform Artemesto has entered the world of luxury real estate, unveiling its first model residence concept on the 85th floor of Greenwich, New York City.
Greenwich is an 88-story tower in the financial district designed by the late architect Rafael Viñoly, known for his work on the Tokyo International Forum, the Cleveland Museum of Art, Carrasco Airport in Montevideo, Uruguay, and 20 Fenchurch Street. In London.
For the project announced Wednesday, Artemest collaborated with March and White Design (MAWD), an award-winning interior design firm with studios in London, New York, Los Angeles and Dubai. MAWD has transformed the penthouse into a living gallery of Italian art, furniture, lighting, and decor.
The penthouse interior was inspired by the tower’s curved architectural form and views of the Hudson River, Statue of Liberty, World Trade Center, and New York City skyline. The team used Murano glass and monolithic sculpture in the bedrooms, and a floating brass chandelier in the dining area to create a sense of lightness. In the living room, a sinuous sculptural sofa from Artemest frames floor-to-ceiling views of the expansive common space. Complementary items such as glossy birdseye maple sideboards and Canaletto bookshelves enhance the modern space, injecting contemporary Italian design style into downtown Manhattan.
