GUILFORD, Conn. — Anytime Fitness, a health club chain with 23 locations around Connecticut and thousands of locations around the world, will “open soon” in Guilford and 891 Post Road, according to its website .
CT Insider reported late last week that the gym is expected to open by summer 2025 at the former Sweet Frog site across from Shoreline Plaza.
The owners of The Place, a restaurant on the same property, were also listed as applicants for Anytime Fitness’ proposal.
The Guilford Planning and Zoning Commission approved plans for the gym on Sept. 4. The project includes demolishing the existing building on the site and constructing a larger, two-story gym building one foot above flood height, according to P&Z documents.
The Guilford store’s webpage states there is 24-hour access to the gym. Anytime Fitness says it has 24/7 access to more than 5,100 workout locations around the world.
The Anytime Fitness website notes that all members who sign up will receive a free personalized fitness plan, and members will continue to receive personalized support from professional coaches inside the gym.
There is also an Anytime Fitness location in Canton. Colchester; Cromwell; Deep River; Ellington. Farmington. Glastonbury; Granby. Madison. Manchester; Newington. Old Saybrook. Putnam; Salem; Southington. Stamford; Uncasville; West Hartford; Wilton. And Windsor.
