CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Someone has been spraying rat poison at a location on Chicago’s far north side, and a local alderman says he’s concerned about the impact it could have on pets, wildlife and small children. Ta.
Aldo. Maria Hadden (No. 49) said it has been going on for at least a few weeks. Known locations are an alley near Ashland Avenue and Fargo Avenue, and an alley near Sheridan Road and Farwell Avenue. To address the issue, councilors shared messages with constituents on social media.
“If you have pets and you walk around those areas, Ashland and Fargo, Sheridan and Farwell, be extra careful,” Hadden said. “Be careful of your pets. You may see what looks like packets of green granules.”
She said the description matched photos sent to the office by residents, and Mr Hadden encouraged anyone who witnessed rat poison in the area to alert the team. Hadden said they are working to identify and stop those responsible.
“Of course it poses a risk to both our local wildlife and local pets,” she said.
He said neither the city nor nearby building or business owners are doing the same.
