Body lice: What they are and why they’re a problem
If you’re someone who likes to gather around the airport gate before the designated boarding time, either because you’re nervous about flying or because you want to save some overhead shelf space, this is the place for you. It will be difficult news to hear. There is a less flattering term for people who exhibit this behavior: “gate lice.”
While it may seem harmless, crowding at the gate can create crowding, confusion, and longer wait times. To address the problem, American Airlines is piloting new technology at airports in New Mexico, Arizona and Virginia. Passengers who attempt to board before their assigned group is called will hear an error beep to alert gate staff and other passengers who abide by the rules. The line cutter is then returned to the ship with its legitimate group.
“We are satisfied with the test results so far,” AA told CNN in an email.
In other airport news, following last week’s headlines about New Zealand airports putting time limits on hugs, London’s Heathrow Airport has also put up new signage proclaiming: “Maximum hug duration unlimited.
