Air India created history by obtaining Design Organization Approval (DOA) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) under CAR 21. This will help Air India make design changes and upgrades in-house.
Air India is also collaborating with Tata Technologies to upgrade its operations through advanced digital solutions and efficient MRO services.
This makes Air India the first domestic airline to achieve this level of certification, allowing it to carry out design and interior changes in-house.
This special approval was handed over to Air India CEO and MD Campbell Wilson by DGCA Director DC Sharma at a ceremony attended by senior officials from both Air India and DGCA.
To further increase its autonomy, Air India has partnered with Tata Technologies to enhance the interior of its aircraft as per CAR 21 guidelines. With the implementation of DOA, Air India is poised to upgrade its engineering and maintenance capabilities with the aim of keeping its aircraft in top condition while improving the customer experience.
Campbell Wilson said, “Our collaboration with Tata Technologies will help us meet customer expectations in line with our broader goals of operational excellence and independence.”
