The Delac vs. Burlington football team heads southeast to take on the second-place Aggies on Friday night in Belva, showcasing the big-play ability of the Belva/Garrison/Drake vs. Annamoose football team as the host team wrestles with the game. I enjoyed seeing it firsthand. Won 56-6.
The Aggies made some big plays, including passing and running, and induced turnovers in the first quarter, building a 27-0 lead by the time the sun set behind the trees in the west end zone. By the end of the third quarter, the home team had added to its total and led 42-0 at halftime.
The third quarter saw tight play from both teams, with both teams scoring early in the fourth to give the Aggies a 48-6 lead. With just four minutes left in the game, Velva added another point for a 56-6 final.
This game was the final game of the regular season for both the Lakers and Aggies. Both teams will compete in the playoffs starting next week.
The Lakers, ranked 4th in Region 3, will play the Killdeer Cowboys, ranked 1st in Region 4, in Killdeer. As the Class A soccer postseason begins, the Region 4, 4th place Southern McLean football team will face the Region 3, 1st place Belva/Garrison/Drake Anamoose Aggies in the first round on Saturday, October 26th. Kindred’s top-ranked Class A football team hosted the Oaks in their final game of the regular season. The home crowd witnessed the offense as the Vikings racked up points en route to the victory.
In the Class A playoff opener next Saturday, Oct. 26, the Region 1, No. 1 ranked Vikings will host Region 2, No. 4 Carrington.
#4 Central Cass 16, #5 Ellendale/Edgley Krum 14
Ellendale/Edgley Klum, the 5th place team in Class A, traveled to Central Cass, the 4th place team in Class A, for an evenly matched defense. The visiting Cardinals led 14-13 after halftime and maintained that lead after three quarters of a game, defeating the Squirrels. The home team fought back with a field goal with eight minutes remaining to take a 16-14 lead. After that, Central Cass played defense and held on for the victory.
Region 1, 3rd place Ellendale/Edgley Cullum will travel to take on Region 2, 2nd place Harvey Wells County in the first round of the postseason. The Region 1, 2nd place Central Cass team will host the Region 2, 3rd place Bottineau Braves in the first round on Saturday, October 26th.

The third place Killdeer Cowboys hosted Heart River and won 42-18. The Cowboys open the postseason next Saturday, October 26th, when they host the Lakers at Dellac Burlington.
