A few years ago we came across a beautiful and unusually patterned cockapoo on a beach in Cornwall. When the man I was with saw my husband’s “Nurses Are Not Nuclear” T-shirt, he said, “Nurses are not nuclear.” “I assume you are readers of the Guardian. This is John Crace’s dog, Herbie.” Friends were looking after John while he made lunch. It’s great to read Harvey’s hilarious account of political life! (‘The glass ceiling for dogs is broken!’ Harvey the Cockapoo talks about his years working for Sunak and Starmer).

While I don’t have an opinion on Wimbledon’s linesman changes per se (report on October 9), it’s a relief to be spared the ugly and unflattering Ralph Lauren uniforms they’ve been forced to wear in recent years. Dew.

If someone earns £91,346 (plus costs) in their job as an MP and over £500,000 (definitely plus costs) in another job as a KC, which is their first job and which is their second? Should it be described as work? (Jeffrey Cox missed the winter fuel vote on October 11 while working overseas for a second job.)

This is a small change in the grand scheme of things, I know. But is it possible that the next Budget will announce the abolition of 1p and 2p coins? They really suck.
