L’Oréal is partnering with two biotech companies to show the world that its commitment to sustainability is more than superficial.
According to a report in Sustainability Magazine, L’Oréal has entered into a partnership with Abolis and Evonik. These three companies are partnering to develop bio-based ingredients in beauty. Bio-based ingredients (described here by the European Commission) are more sustainable because they are made from renewable resources rather than synthetically produced from polluting processes.
“By bringing together the research, innovation, manufacturing capabilities and expertise of both companies, we believe we have great potential to revolutionize bio-based ingredients for beauty across the end-to-end value chain. “We are building a new system,” L said. This approach encourages the use of environmentally friendly alternatives in beauty products and is consistent with global efforts to reduce harmful carbon pollution and protect natural resources.
Additionally, L’Oréal’s biotechnology efforts contribute to reducing waste and energy consumption in the production process. For example, the company uses advances in biotechnology to create biodegradable and renewable ingredients to minimize the harmful effects of its beauty products.
Cyril Portenier, CEO of Aboris Biotechnologies, said: “Our collaboration with L’Oréal and Evonik will help us drive sustainable transformation in the industries we serve, including beauty, nutrition and healthcare. “We will be able to create innovative solutions that are customized to meet our needs,” he told Sustainability Magazine.
