COLLINS, Miss. (WDAM) – The political director of the Mississippi Republican Party shared his thoughts on the upcoming general election Tuesday night at a gathering of Covington County Republicans.
Ty Martin was the keynote speaker at this meeting of the Covington County Republican Party held at the Collins Depot.
Martin talked about grassroots efforts to get out the vote and cited the importance of turnout in battleground states.
He believes the national House and Senate races will most likely be decided on election night, but it could take some time before the presidential election results are known.
“A lot of people ask me, ‘Do you think we’ll know the election results on November 5th?’ We don’t think so,” Martin said.
“I don’t think we’ll know the outcome for the president because there are a lot of these large counties that don’t start counting absentee ballots until Election Day.”
He added, “I think we’ll definitely know what the U.S. Senate looks like, I think we’ll know what the U.S. House of Representatives looks like, but I don’t think we know what the presidential election will look like.” Ta. At least until a few days later. ”
Marin says the presidential election will likely be decided by results in just 40 counties in various battleground states.
