October 8, 2024 – The Croatian Ministry of Interior (MUP) plans to install more speed cameras.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the Croatian Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to install cases for new speed cameras. According to Autonet, 57 new locations will be installed by the end of September, and 27 more locations will be installed by the end of the year.
We’re talking about locations within 12 different police administration areas. Motorists in the targeted areas of Kotar Primorye should be most careful, as 20 new cameras have been installed or will be installed by the end of the year. In addition to Rijeka and the surrounding areas, one new camera is planned for the islands of Cres, Mali Losinj and Rab, and two new cameras for the island of Krk.
Thirteen new camera cases have already been installed in the immediate area covered by the Istrian Police. Road users should also exercise extra caution when driving in Rovinj, Taal, Motovun, Buzet, Budze, Potpicyan, Plomin, Lupograu, Čepic Polje, Vizhnada, Cvitan and Selovlje.
There are nine new locations each in Sisak-Moslavina and Zadar regions, and eight new locations each in Lika Senj and Dubrovnik-Neretva counties. One new speed camera was installed in Makarska (specifically along the D8 road) and further east in Vukovar-Srijem. Koprivnica-Krizhevci and Krapina-Zagorje each received two additional speed cameras. Four are placed in the region of Požega Slavonia, and seven new ones can be found in Šibenik Knin.
Croatia’s Interior Ministry plans to install more new cameras to further curb traffic violations such as speeding, using mobile devices and driving without seatbelts.
With Croatia’s roads flooded with tourists from all over Europe during the summer, the need for increased monitoring along the country’s roads is more important than ever.
