SAN FRANCISCO – Three former San Francisco mayors accused candidate Mark Farrell of misappropriating campaign funds and called for a criminal investigation in a letter sent Monday to California Attorney General Rob Bonta and San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. I asked for it.

Former Mayor Brown, who supports London Breed’s re-election bid, said he was approached about signing the letter 10 days ago.
The letter accuses Mr. Farrell of using unlimited donations allowed under the ballot measure to circumvent the mayor’s race’s $500 per person contribution limit.
“This is a complete violation of that standard,” Brown said.
“There is absolutely no factual basis. I lead both camps,” Farrell said at a news conference Monday. Farrell previously scheduled a media event to discuss the city’s ranked-choice voting system, asking voters to put Asha Safai as their second choice and “anyone but Breed” on their ballots. was.
Farrell said his mayoral campaign and Prop D share office space on West Portal Drive. He said his team is fully transparent, splitting accounting and spending 50-50 and submitting public reports when necessary.

The letter comes as incumbent Mayor London Breed faces fierce competition from Farrell, nonprofit philanthropy leader Daniel Lurie, Supervisor Ayesha Safai and Supervisor Aaron Peskin. It was submitted in the midst of an election campaign.
Farrell appeared on KTVU’s “The Four” last week and answered questions about other reported allegations of non-disclosure of mortgage loans he received. Farrell said this was an oversight, which he later corrected in the campaign’s public information.
“I hope this leads to some action, not jail, but some action,” Brown said.
“What a joke. Each of these former mayors is supporting one of my political opponents. This is a machine trying to attack me as the frontrunner in this race,” Farrell said.
