TRENTON, N.J. — A bill that would create a Reproductive Health Travel Advisory to notify New Jersey residents about reproductive health restrictions in other states has passed a Senate committee, lawmakers announced Monday.
The bill, S-3663, was sponsored by Sen. John Bursichelli (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland) and Senate Majority Leader M. Teresa Ruiz (D-Essex/Hudson) and would help more states. It aims to provide important information on reproductive health policies as the country imposes reproductive health policies. Restrictions associated with the U.S. Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade.
Sen. Bursichelli cited the example of a woman being denied routine life-saving care due to restrictive state laws and said, “This travel advisory provides fair warning to New Jersey residents and cautions them about the potential risks when making travel plans.” We will be able to avoid this,” he said.
This advisory, maintained by the New Jersey Department of State, provides detailed information about reproductive health laws across the United States, including pregnancy limits, waiting periods, insurance coverage limitations, and potential civil and criminal liability for patients and providers. It’s planned. The bill proposes a color-coded system to help residents understand the level of risk. States with full access to care are “blue,” states with moderate restrictions are “yellow,” and states with severe restrictions are “red.”
Sen. Lewis emphasized the importance of protecting New Jersey residents traveling out of state. “We must protect our residents and assume the worst-case scenario can occur even outside our state,” she said, highlighting “seismic changes” in reproductive health laws across the country.
The advisory will be displayed prominently on the New Jersey Department of State’s website and will be updated periodically to reflect changes in each state’s laws.
