Don’t tell my lotion-obsessed sisters, I went many days during the summer without moisturizing my body. The routine of lathering body oils, creams, and body butters onto your skin after a shower feels like a chore. This is an extra step that takes up your time to do other things. As you can imagine, this season of revealing clothing and not staying hydrated has left my skin feeling dry and itchy. I was looking for a solution that would minimize the itching and dryness without having to keep applying lotion for weeks on end.
L’Occitane’s Cleansing & Softening Almond Shower Oil ($29) has received praise from many beauty editors and has won five beauty awards from various magazines at the time of posting, so we decided to give it a try. did. Spoiler alert: I was immediately hooked.
Keep reading to learn more about shower oil and why it’s become my new favorite multitasking hydration product.
About L’Occitane Cleansing & Softening Almond Shower Oil
A two-in-one shower oil that cleanses dirt and impurities while deeply moisturizing your skin and giving it a radiant glow. The oil-to-milky formula can be used all over the body to soften skin. Its formula includes sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, vitamin E, beta-sitosterol, omega 9 and 6 fatty acids, and squalene. According to the brand, regular use will make your skin firmer and smoother.
What I like about L’Occitane Cleansing & Softening Almond Shower Oil
According to the brand, one bottle of the product is sold every 10 seconds around the world. It’s packed with sweet almond oil and grapeseed oil, and after using it for less than a week, I can see why it’s so popular. Unlike traditional body washes, this shower oil lathers up to wash away the day’s fatigue, produces a sweet (and not too strong) scent, and leaves my skin the smoothest it’s ever been in a shower wash. I noticed that my skin felt more hydrated before I even got out of the shower. The brand attributes this to almond oil, which is known to moisturize the skin, protect it from sun damage, and improve texture. Grapeseed oil is rich in linoleic acid, which moisturizes and softens the skin.
Being able to use a two-in-one product instead of post-cleansing lotion has completely streamlined my body care routine. You no longer need to apply body oil, wait for it to dry, and then set aside time to apply lotion. L’Occitane’s Cleansing & Softening Almond Shower Oil takes care of all these steps with its deeply moisturizing ingredients. Plus, the scent of freshly baked Parisian almond croissants lingers on your skin for up to an hour.
Product testing is a big part of my job as a beauty editor. And while so many moisturizing body products claim to keep your skin hydrated all day long, very few actually do so. But when I use this shower oil, I find myself caressing my arms (my biggest dry skin problem area) all day long, in awe of how soft it is.

How to use L’Occitane Cleansing & Softening Almond Shower Oil
The luxurious formula emulsifies into a hydrating, velvety, milky lather that’s easy to lather over your favorite cleansing tools. Intended for use on wet skin during the shower. During my four-day test, I applied it using a loofah, washcloth, and mini exfoliating gloves. It creates a really beautiful scent every time and lathers perfectly on contact with water.
Although it is an oil, it is non-sticky and leaves no sticky residue. But a word to the wise: a little goes a long way. I often add just 2-3 drops to my loofah and scrub dirt from head to toe for consistent, silky-smooth results.
Things to consider before trying L’Occitane Cleansing & Softening Almond Shower Oil
Almond shower oil has a beautiful, subtle scent. However, it may not be suitable for people who are sensitive to scents. Considering it costs $29 for just 8.4 fluid ounces, repeated purchases can become an expensive habit. However, it is important to note that the oil should last several weeks if you use only a few drops per wash.
Where can I get L’Occitane Cleansing & Softening Almond Shower Oil?
L’Occitane Cleansing & Softening Almond Shower Oil is available at Amazon, L’Occitane, Sephora, Nordstrom, Ulta Beauty, and Anthropologie.
