NEW YORK — It turns out “puppy love” may be more common than love at first sight. A recent study found that more dog owners have an “instant connection” with their pets than with their significant other.
In a survey of 2,000 dog owners in serious relationships, a whopping 80% said they had a direct connection with their dog, while only 10% said the same for their partner. It turned out that it was only 69%. The survey also found that pet owners are more likely to believe in “love at first sight” for animals than for humans (87% vs. 62%).
Still, one in five people (19%) said it took them a while to form a bond with their dog, and 20% of respondents doubted they made the right decision to adopt a pet because they didn’t form a bond right away. I have some doubts. But it was worth the wait. 74% said their bond with their dog was stronger because it had to be built over time.
The study, commissioned by Honest Kitchen and conducted by Talker Research, also asked dog owners if there was anything they wished they had known before adopting a dog. These different answers were about food, which may not be surprising. 76% said food is their “love language” and they take great care in feeding their dogs “only the best.”
More than half (53%) of those polled even said they feed their dogs more often than they feed themselves.
“Choosing the right food for your pet is a great way to show your pet how much you love them and help them live longer and healthier lives,” Honest Kitchen CMO Miki Dorsen said in a statement. states. “However, it’s important to remember that no two pets are alike, so whether it’s their first pet or their fifth, pet parents are likely to encounter a few surprises along the way. There is.”
“One pet may love everything in their bowl, while another may be picky with their mouths. In some cases, it can be difficult to find the right food for your pet.”Dietary sensitivities. ”

“I wanted to know about the different types of dog food on the market and which one is best for my dog. It took a lot of research to find the perfect one,” says one dog owner. Masu.
Some people also wanted to know which brand of dog food is good for their stomachs.
Other respondents would have wanted to know about the “real time investment” involved in owning a dog, and how “dogs are literally like raising children.”
The love that people have for their dogs also surprises first-time dog owners, who admit: “If I had known the amount of joy they bring, I would have gotten a dog sooner.” Ta.
Despite the challenges and surprises, 83% of respondents said their pet care experience was even better than they expected. The same respondents agreed that although it was tedious and not always easy, they wouldn’t change their experience with their dog for anything.
“There are so many things I enjoy about owning a dog, but I can’t be honest without acknowledging how difficult it can be,” Dorsen says. “At the end of the day, the most meaningful relationships in your life are the experiences you have, both the good times and the bad.”
