Martha Stewart shared her 5-minute makeup routine. She used Merit Beauty products to achieve an incredibly simple and glowing look. She called it “easier than making a pot of soup.”
Martha Stewart doesn’t want to spend forever preparing before spending the day on the farm. There are too many other things to do. And, in the 83-year-old’s words, her five-minute makeup routine is “easier than making a pot of soup.”
In partnership with Merit Beauty, Stewart demonstrated the process while chatting about her home life on Instagram. First, she primed her skin with Merit’s Great Skin Instant Glow Serum and Priming Moisturizer. Next, I applied the Chiffon Complexion Perfecting Stick under my eyes, chin, and forehead, and the Bronzing Balm to my cheekbones before blending it all out with a flat kabuki brush.
All the moisturizing cream products blended beautifully into her skin. That’s partially thanks to Benefit’s use of moisturizing ingredients such as fatty acids, and partially due to Stewart’s long-standing dedication to caring for her skin from the inside out. “I grow all my own vegetables,” she said as she blended them. “I grow all my vegetables for green juice. I drink it every day and it also makes my skin clearer.”
Let’s move on to the eyes. Stewart created a simple shadow on her wrinkles using Vachetta’s Solo Shadow Matte Eye Color, a cream-to-powder formula containing skin-soothing antioxidants and peptides. To finish off her skin, she topped off the glow with Day Glow Highlighting Balm.
Next is the eyelashes. “I love mascara,” Stewart said while applying Clean Lash Lengthening Mascara. This mascara never smudges and has a tube-like formula containing olive oil and vitamin B5 for softness and shine. “I have nice long eyelashes so I like to show them off,” she added.
For finishing touches, Stewart fluffed her brows with Brow 1980 Pomade Taupe and applied the moisturizing Shade Slick Tint Lip Oil. “I remember my daughter saying to me, ‘Mom, don’t be shy,’ don’t wear an apron when you leave the house, and put a little makeup on your face,” she recalled. I did. “And I did it in less than five minutes. It was easier than making a pot of soup. Maybe I should get dressed.”
