Motorcyclist in critical condition after crash in Frederick
FREDERICK, Md. — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle accident Friday night, according to the Frederick Police Department.
The accident occurred near the intersection of Orchard Way and Apple Way on October 4, 2024 at approximately 6:50 p.m. According to police, the driver of a 2024 Suzuki motorcycle lost control and collided with several vehicles.
The motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he remains in critical condition. No other injuries were reported from the collision.
Authorities believe alcohol may have been a factor in the incident. The results of the investigation will be submitted to the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
Stafford County Sheriff reports road closure after heavy equipment collision
STAFFORD, Va. — Two separate accidents involving heavy equipment closed roads in Stafford County over the weekend, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.
The first incident occurred Friday evening when a driver towing a skid steer attempted to pass through a height-restricted underpass on Harrell Road. The vehicle crashed into an underpass, forcing authorities to close the road for investigation and cleaning.
Earlier on Saturday, Deputy GP Macquarie responded to an incident on Widewater Road in which a forklift truck entered the roadway and landed on top of a passing vehicle. Another road was closed due to the accident.
Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported in either accident.
The sheriff’s office urged drivers to “drive carefully and obey all highway signs” to prevent similar accidents.
10-year-old boy arrested after driving stolen car past Minneapolis playground
MINNEAPOLIS — A 10-year-old boy who drove a stolen car past a playground full of children in north Minneapolis has been arrested, authorities said Friday. No injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred on Sept. 20 near Nellie Stone Johnson School.
Minneapolis police said the boy, whose name has not been released because of his age, was taken into custody Thursday on suspicion of second-degree assault and booked into the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center.
Police say the boy has a criminal history, with at least 30 records in his police record dating back to May 2023. The boy has been arrested twice for car theft and is a suspect in more than a dozen cases, including car theft and robbery. , assault with a dangerous weapon, and other crimes.
“The child who was on the playground was not struck by the driver,” police said in a statement.
The investigation is ongoing and no further details have been released.
