VIT Vice Chancellor GV Selvam attended the opening ceremony of the 11th VIT Bio Summit held at the Vellore campus.
Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) vice-chancellor GV Selvam said people should eat healthy food and follow traditional lifestyles to stay happy and live longer.
He was delivering the presidential address at the opening ceremony of the 11th VIT Bio Summit organized by the Faculty of Bioscience and Technology at VIT here.
He said the average life expectancy in India is estimated to be around 70 years, while the average life expectancy in Hong Kong and Japan is higher at 84 years. Nigeria has hit its lowest in 53 years. “People in Japan and Hong Kong eat healthier food and are happier, which is said to lead to longer lives,” he says.
He also said that people should consume organic and pure foods to extend their lifespan. “Doctors say that we need to eat two hours before going to bed, but many people do not follow this. Instead of using chemicals in cultivation, we should emphasize organic cultivation. . Such farming methods will help people access healthy food,” he said.
The Vice-President of VIT emphasized the need to consume unadulterated food and said that Israel has been a pioneer in the agricultural sector following organic farming and best agricultural practices. “VIT also invites agricultural experts from Israel to learn agricultural practices to teach our students,” he said.
