Award-winning veteran British TV presenter Nick Knowles has competed in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, adding to his long list of small screen credits.
Mr Knowles, 61, told the BBC: “I’m very, very excited to be doing Strictly this year. People may be used to me being stuck on building sites or traveling around the world. But it’s going to be a lot of fun to dance live on TV.” It’s a whole new adventure. ”
She added: “I’ve spent my life learning new skills and have never been afraid to try. My old dog still has a life to take on big challenges. He’s teaching me to dance. That’s what I’m all about…and of course don’t embarrass the kids!”
Knowles began his career in television as a production runner and worked as a reporter on TVS’s show ‘Coast to Coast’ in the South East until 1992. Knowles then appeared on ITV and Channel 5 and had her biggest success to date with DIY SOS. It started on BBC One in 1999.
The home improvement show ran until 2010, when it was renamed DIY SOS: The Big Build, and ran for 32 long seasons, with over 240 episodes aired during that time.
In December 2019, the show was awarded a special British Academy Award for outstanding creative contribution to television at a memorial event in Bristol. Ms Knowles was embroiled in a brief scandal in 2021 after appearing in a commercial for cereal Shreddies, which threatened to breach the BBC’s rules on commercial dealings.
The list of television formats in which Knowles has appeared includes numerous game shows (Who Will Win, Perfection, Secret Fortune, Five Star Family Reunion), travel documentaries (Nick Knowles’ Railroad Journey, Nick Knowles and the Grand Into the Canyon, South America (Nick Knowles) and fact-based daytime series such as City Hospital and Real Rescue.
Given that Knowles is one of the best-known faces on British television, ‘Strictly’ is his first celebrity-based appearance, given that the star competed on the 2018 edition of ‘I’m Celebrity.’ It’s no surprise that it’s not a competition show. .Please let me out here. He finished 6th overall.

Knowles hasn’t limited himself to television throughout his career. In 2016, Simon Callow, Euna Stubbs, Alan Armstrong, Bernard Hill, Virginia McKenna and Phil Davies played the role of a pensioner who tours National Trust properties and robs nearby banks. He co-wrote the comedy film “Golden Years” about the group.

He has also had a keen interest in music throughout his life and wrote his first and to date last album Every Kind of People in 2017, which reached number 92 on the UK Albums Chart.
