Katie is no stranger to the world of fitness and health. In addition to her mother, Denise Austin, being a well-known fitness instructor and coach, Katie had a Division I lacrosse career at the University of Southern California before becoming a full-time sports host. A lover of fitness, a side gig life centered around teaching classes and blogging, Katie seems destined to help others adopt healthier lifestyles through fitness and better food choices. It was.
Katie recently partnered with Amazon devices and says, “I use Alexa devices literally every day, so it’s a great fit.”
“Echo Spot not only helps me start my morning routine on the right foot, but also helps me stay on track with my daily movement and training goals,” Katie exclusively told The Blast. “I always ask Alexa to set a timer between sets or play music depending on my workout. When I practice yoga, I love a relaxing soundtrack. I love the pace. When I want to do a fast, upbeat workout, I turn on some uplifting music.”

For Katie, having a morning routine is “a huge part of achieving my goals,” and she credits the Echo Spot with helping her stay on track. She also explained how she finds “little ways to spark joy” in the morning to get her day going.
“I streamline my mornings by setting Alexa routines to turn on the lights, remind me what’s on my calendar for the day, and start a music playlist,” she told The Blast. spoke.
“Another big part of my morning routine is honestly my coffee mug. I always talk about finding small ways to spark joy, even if it means having a cute mug just for coffee. Start with the good stuff, even if it’s just something small like ‘Morning routines are really important!’
Tips for starting a new workout routine

For anyone looking to start a new fitness routine, Katie recommends starting small.
“If you’re just starting out, don’t aim to work out seven times a week. Take it easy. A great way to stick to a fitness routine is to treat it like any other priority in your life. “Let’s make a schedule,” she said.
“Ask Alexa to add a time that works for you to your calendar, whether it’s 15 minutes or 45 minutes. By carving out that time every day or every other day, the routine will quickly become second nature, like muscle memory. It will be.”

And for people who lead busy lives and need tips on how to fit a workout into their day, Katie shared some ideas that may be helpful.
“The only thing I can do consistently throughout the day is 15 minutes: wake up in the morning, feed the dog, drink a glass of water, review my plans for the day, and stretch for a few minutes in the morning. “Thanks to Alexa and the Echo Spot, I’m able to keep it going because my schedule changes from day to day,” Katie told The Blast. “You can also turn your social plans into active activities. If you’re meeting friends, go for coffee, play a sport like pickleball or tennis, or stream a workout video together. You can also.”
Katie said she also uses Alexa to schedule workouts for specific times on her calendar, much like she would schedule a meeting. She also asks Alexa to set a reminder to drink water or do a quick stretch.
Share what you learned from your mother

Katie definitely learned a thing or two from her fitness guru mom, Denise. Her mother always instilled in her that walking is more important than you think.
“She always says sitting is the new smoking,” Katie said. “I think this is very true, especially in this digital age where we are chained to desks and screens.”
But that doesn’t mean you need to incorporate several miles of walking every day. Katie suggests taking the long walk home, or taking the stairs instead of the elevator, and walking 15 to 20 minutes if possible.
“It may seem simple, but I promise you walking is a hugely important part of your cardiovascular health,” Katie added.
When asked about her favorite workouts lately, Katie revealed that she’s been doing a lot of strength training and Pilates, especially since her 21 Day Strengthening and Extension Program launches on the Katie Austin App on September 16th. He said that this was because he was “just in love”.
