During his visit to Poland, the Belarusian leader met with the country’s Interior Minister Tomasz Siemoniak in Warsaw. Pavel Latushka, deputy head of the Unified Transitional Cabinet, also participated in the meeting.
The parties discussed the situation of political prisoners and possible ways to ensure their release, including the case of Andrzej Pochobut. The dialogue addressed security issues on the Polish-Belarusian border and Lithuania’s referral to the International Criminal Court for crimes committed by the Lukashenka regime.
Ms. Tsikhanouskaya thanked Ms. Siemoniak for the efforts of the Working Group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to address legalization of stay and residence conditions for Belarusians in Poland, as well as for the broad exception allowing Belarusian-registered vehicles to enter Poland. did. She handed over new proposals from democratic forces on these issues and invited Poland to establish an interministerial working group on Belarus.
