A renovation expert and self-confessed budget DIY enthusiast has shared some handy hacks to help you with your interior painting projects.
Claire (@roseleigh_rose) revealed on TikTok how she spent just £2.49 on an item that could potentially make a cheap door look more ‘luxurious’.
In a video showcasing her work, Claire was seen applying the trick to a white door in her home, painting it gray and then painting it over with black.
“I also decided to paint a cheap door using £2.49 tanning mitts to make it look a bit more classy. Don’t think it wasn’t too bad,” she wrote alongside the clip. wrote the caption.
Claire added: “It was very easy and the paint went into the grooves really well. Just in case (just for reference) I wore vinyl gloves under my tanning mitt.”
Zooming in on the results at the end of the video, she shows off the fruits of her labor, revealing a perfectly executed renovation project with no signs of mistakes and brand new looking doors.
Many of her 2,000 followers were quick to respond, admitting that they wanted to try it for themselves. One person praised: “What a great idea.” “I’ll do this…it’s a really great idea.”
A second person praised: “Awesome. I’m planning on going from boring white to gray for my doors and that’s a great way to go. I’ll definitely do that. Thank you.”
A third added: “Looks great as a tanning mitt. Looks like grains are popping in the door.” Meanwhile, a fourth quipped: “Doors and railings are fine, but walls are not. Stay there all day.”
Meanwhile, in a follow-up video, Claire also applied her unconventional trick to skirting boards. “After painting the interior doors black, I decided to paint the baseboards,” she wrote.
After removing the crate, she put on her mitts again, dipped them in white paint and got to work. Claire carefully placed each board onto an uneven surface and scrubbed the paint to bring it back to its best shine.
“You completely changed my love for dressing up as a single mature woman who does everything herself,” one of her followers responded furiously. “Smart idea,” added another.
