The owner called 911 to report the fire and told the operator that he was able to get out of the house, but that his cat and dog were still trapped inside.
When crews arrived, they found flames and smoke pouring from the home and immediately began an “aggressive” attack on the blaze, the fire department said.
“Multiple supply lines were installed and multiple manpower lines were deployed inside the residence to search for victims and extinguish the fire,” the fire department said.
Crews were able to rescue the trapped animal.
“Firefighters were able to locate all pets inside and safely reunite them with their owners,” the fire department said.
The owner and pet were not injured.
The owner and his pet are being assisted by community assistance programs, the fire department said.
