The City of Columbia, Prisma Health®, and the National Fitness Campaign (NFC) today announced two new outdoor fitness courts®. The new fitness courts at Greenview Park and Finlay Park will be the first in Columbia and the sixth and seventh in the state.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Greenview Park Fitness Court was held this morning. The Finley Park Fitness Courts are part of a larger park construction project scheduled to be completed by fall 2025 and are scheduled to open at a later date.
“We are committed to building a healthier Columbia as an investment in our future,” said Mayor Daniel Rickenman. “These new fitness courts are a testament to that commitment and provide residents with a convenient and fun way to stay active outdoors.”
The Fitness Court is an outdoor gym that allows users to use their own body weight to get a complete workout using 7 stations in just 7 minutes. This workout was created with people 14 and older in mind and is adaptable to all fitness levels, allowing participants to work out at their own pace. Users can also download the free Fitness Court app at nationalfitnesscampaign. It acts as a coach in your pocket, enhancing your outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience.
