Kmart shoppers have managed to solve a common caravan problem with the retailer’s popular $14 product. This month on TikTok, content creator and caravan renovator @mindfulgreta shared a video showing how to make DIY curtains for your campervan.
Greta said she decided to replace her roller blinds with curtains because they were too heavy and kept falling off the wall, and she wanted to make them herself to save money. Rather than buying fabric from a fabric store, she bought a green linen-style tablecloth at Kmart for $14.

“For our caravan, we replaced the tablecloth with linen curtains,” she said in the video. “This was a really easy DIY. I highly recommend this if you’re looking for a cheap alternative to curtains for your caravan or, if you really want to do it, for your home.”

She described the tablecloth as “perfect” for her van. Since the sides were already hemmed, all I needed to do was add a slit to insert the curtain rod.
“The process of making this happen was very quick and easy,” she added. “It’s very cute, it’s very cheap, it’s very simple, because the fridge isn’t very pretty and the first thing you see when you get in the van is the fridge.
“10 out of 10, highly recommended.”
6 essential caravan safety items
For the past few months, Greta has been documenting her renovation work on her vintage caravan on TikTok, from installing wall and ceiling lights to installing lights and towel rails. The mother of three worked with her husband to sand floors, paint fixtures and help install bunk beds.
In one video, she detailed six safety items she installed in her caravan. These included a fire extinguisher, carbon monoxide alarm, fire alarm, electrical safety disconnect switch, fire blanket and first aid kit.
She also posted a reveal video showcasing before and after footage of her vintage caravan, which she named Betty.
Tips for caravanning with kids
Greta recently shared another video on Instagram detailing how she and her husband made caravanning with their children “easy”.
In addition to making sure her children have separate beds “where they can’t see each other,” she installed a toilet in a cupboard “to avoid late-night adventures,” bought a rechargeable night light, and bought a Lego For “quiet time” I also have a box of.

“Been out for a week with Bun Betty and it was so nice to get organized,” she wrote. “We’re brainstorming a few more ideas to make things go more smoothly, but honestly, I think it really depends on the ages of the kids at the moment. Only time will tell. ”
