It can be very tempting to redecorate your home for the new season. Especially in the fall, with Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas just around the corner, there’s a lot of inspiration to be found in nature outdoors. But don’t worry. This doesn’t have to be a huge undertaking.
For interior designer and Queer Eye star Jeremiah Brent, the transition to cozy seasons is the perfect excuse to give your home a little refreshment. “I get a lot of questions about the seasons and how you can change the space and energy of your home,” Jeremiah said in a recent video shared to his Instagram.
So what are those little switches he’s talking about? Here are Jeremiah Brent’s recommended easy fall decorating ideas to help transform your home from season to season. Cocoa is also ready!
“Fall is definitely one of my favorite seasons,” says Jeremiah. “I love fresh air and I love layers, so I think for your home it’s really great to do little things to transform the space and give it a different feel,” he explains. Masu.
For a fall refresh, there are several seasonal changes you can make without spending a lot of time or budget. For example, styling your credenza or incorporating fall entryway decor to match this year’s fall trends.
A beloved designer, Jeremiah likes to embrace the changing weather by redecorating his home with these three easy tips. Here’s what he had to say:
1. Relocation and reuse

“Change things up in your home,” Jeremiah advises in the video, suggesting a careful selection of art for fall.
Try to shop for your own home so you don’t have to buy new things. Rearrange art from other rooms in your home and repurpose it in new locations. Perhaps the gallery wall feels a little outdated, so you can break it out and use individual works of art to create new dynamic vignettes for different spaces.
The same goes for larger parts. Take a cozy rug out of your bedroom and add some fall-inspired colors to your living room. Drag an armchair near the fireplace and add a side table to create a cozy cafe corner. You can also sprinkle small decorative items like leaves and gourds throughout your home to set the mood for the new season.
2. Soften the lighting

An often overlooked seasonal change is the idea of lighting. You’re probably already interested in fall-scented candles that give off a warm, soft glow, but Jeremiah wants you to take it a step further.
“Change the lighting,” he suggests. “Try different levels and go for a lower wattage for a slightly more moody experience.”
The simplest and most effective approach to bright spaces is to work with different levels to create hierarchical lighting effects. That means giving your living room cozy lighting with ceiling lights (yes, even big lights are welcome in winter), wall sconces, standing floor lamps, table lamps, and candlelight. .

If you’re looking for fall bedroom decor to make your bedroom cozy for fall, or looking for ideas to make your living room more inviting, you’ll want to bundle up.
What does that mean? “Bring out anything that feels truly seasonal, like thick pillows, heavy fabrics, wool, and herringbone,” Jeremiah explains.
Textiles and textures add ultimate comfort to your relaxation space. New cushions with fluffier fabrics, thicker cushions, thicker rugs, and flowing curtains are all great ways to make your space feel cozy and feel like you’re in a giant hug. And relax.
